So explaining death can be a hard thing... especially to a child.
Tuesday Crawford (8), Tatum (6), & I were driving home from school when we turned a corner & noticed flashing blue lights. As we slowed down we realized it was policemen blocking off the road on account of a deer who had apparently been hit by a car.
Tatum was very concerned about the dead deer... so clearly my response was, "Tatum, that's why you have to look both ways every time you cross the road. I bet that deer did not look left, right, then left again!"
Maybe not then best response, but that's real life folks!
