The Green Market on the Waterfront!

Tonight we double dated with our new friends Matt & Mel! We had a blast. (despite the fact that Matt is a Gator. I'll let that slide on account of Mel's awesomeness!) ;)

We walked downtown from our apartment to the waterfront where every Wednesday night they do a Green Market! (a Farmer's Market... I don't know why they call it a Green Market down here!)

This should be the national monument!

Hehe!

I found a Siamese leaf! ;)

Or a heart leaf!

Ruth Chris steak sandwich, I had a bite & it was very tasty!

Up close & personal!

Hiding behind his strawberry fan.

We're sweaty but having fun!

YUM! Best BBQ I've had down here!

Parrots?! They were tearing into their dinner!

Nom nom nom!

They made a mess for sure!

Love this building.

It's different than all the rest.

Old windows are my favorite.

Fruit!

Mel taking lots of pictures too!

Another neat building!

We had a great evening with Matt & Mel. We tried new things, saw pretty buildings & got free Slurpees from Seven11! I'm so grateful to find new friends that live so close & have such similar interests. The Lord is to good & gracious to us.

Gone Fishin'

After an awesome service today we decided to go fishing! (Now that we both have our fishing licenses!) I decided to take along my camera & take some shots of our surroundings!
We fished under a draw bridge.

It was cool & shady under it... it was super cool looking too!

I caught 3 fish at one time! Holler.

Look at that HUGE fish!

It was a lovely day. About 20 minutes after I snapped this picture it started to rain... while the sun continued to beamed!

I can't decide which pictures I like best!

My cute hubby in his natural element!

I love this man.

All in all it was a successful fishing trip for me! Nathan was so sweet to keep my hooks baited & take all my fish off for me. I caught about 20 fish (all itty bitty of course) & we had a ball! We followed up our fishing trip with some Havana's... delicious Cuban food. Happy Sunday!

A Gorgeous Day!

Today was stunningly beautiful!

My precious husband worked extra hard to get off early so that we could go to the beach on my day off!

I'm his wife. :)

One of the best sounds ever.

No special editing here... this is what it looked like!

Atlantic sand & shells!
I didn't think this day could get any more beautiful... & then I saw the gorgeous moon.
Isn't it pretty?

It lit up the water beautifully!
On such a beautiful day... it's only fitting that such a beautiful person, Katherine Nicole Dew, be born 22 years ago. Happy birthday little sister! I wish I could be there to celebrate with you!

True Life: My Guest Bedroom is in SHAMBLES.

This post is partially for you & mostly for me! For you because I just want you to know (if you don't already know me) my house is far from perfect! I'm still learning how to live with my husband & how to maintain a home as beautifully as my mother did for me. This post is for me... to use as incentive.

We moved to West Palm Beach well over a month ago now! It is past the time where my guest room should be in order & functioning. It will serve as: guest room (everyone is welcome!!), study, craft supply room, office & storage. Right now it is serving as a mess holder... observe.

Yeah.........

So I was doing so well when we moved in & then I hit that wall. Yes, I hit it hard!

I was on the right track... I found these & loved them. $12.99? Heck yes.
AND I found this! Bedding... quilt, shams & dust ruffle for $20!! I needed some fun Florida bedding!
Like I said... I was on the right track but then I hit the wall. Tomorrow I will be conquering this!
 ... and this

Look! My favorite chair is under there!

Yes, that is stuff billowing out of that closet! (Oh hey- what's up!?)

Check in soon for the finished product. Then I can host my friends & family in our new home!

Crock-Pot Lasagna

Today I tried to make Lasagna in my crock-pot... I'd have to say it was successful! I found the recipe from Creating through Life but it seemed a little bland for our taste so the following is how I made ours! I also used ground turkey because it's leaner & healthier. I found it interesting that this recipe calls for cottage cheese because I've always used ricotta in my lasagna... but cottage cheese is like half the calories of ricotta... genius!

You'll need the following:
  • 1 lb. ground turkey (or beef... or sausage)
  • 29 oz can of tomato sauce
  • 8 oz lasagna noodles, uncooked
  • onion
  • garlic
  • Italian seasonings
  • salt & pepper
  • 4 cups mozzarella
  • 1 1/2 cups of cottage cheese
*Spray your crock-pot with cooking spray*

Start by browning your ground turkey in a large saucepan. Add in onion, Italian seasonings, salt & pepper & garlic. (I pressed my garlic, I prefer it that way & it extracts allicin (which has properties that are believed to decrease blood pressure, have anti-thrombotic and anti-inflammatory activities, and function as an antioxidant to some extent!)

Add in tomato sauce to ground turkey!

In a different bowl combine cottage cheese & mozzarella.

Layer 1/3 of sauce in the crock-pot
Cover with (uncooked) lasagna noodles, you may need to break them to fit the oval shape of the pot.
Layer 1/3 of the cheese mixture
Repeat!
Top off the lasagna with any extra tomato sauce.

Set on Low & walk away for 4 hours!

So maybe this doesn't look so good, but it sure does taste good!
